Surprise handkerchief shower for Miss Idina Floersheim
A handkerchief shower was held at Miss Idina Floersheim's home last Friday evening before her departure for Springer High School. Hosted by Mrs F A Roy and Mrs Richard Kilmurry, the event drew her city friends for refreshments, dancing, and songs. Idina, in 11th grade, will finish her business course this year and later travel with her father to Trinidad to visit her mother's grave before returning to Springer.

James R Leach Dies Suddenly In Harvest Work
James R Leach, aged forty nine, collapsed at the door and died soon after while helping harvest. Doctors could not revive him. The body was prepared by Dodds and sent to Wichita for burial. Wife and sister Lillian Richards accompanied the march to the train as the Odd Fellows led pallbearers. He leaves a wife and two children Ired and Tressie. The community mourns his sudden death.

School Board Lets Contract for Furniture
The School Board met Wednesday evening and let the contract for desks chairs and supplies. Seven bids were entered with only ten cent difference between Bowles Co and Peabody School Furniture Co both sealed bids. The Peabody and Rowles bids were lowest and were awarded by splitting orders saving about 150. The board expects further bids for science and other furniture to be let December 1 for delivery before October first start.

Milnor Rudulph Sr of Mora died of paralysis at his home Friday at 10 o clock aged 58. He was known in New Mexico education circles and served as County Superintendent of Schools for Quay and Mora counties and as chairman of the Mora county Board of Education. Burial was at the Catholic Church Saturday with Rev. Fr. Olier officiating after his return from a vacation in France.
