The State Canvassing Board struggles to canvass election returns as precincts withhold poll books and others fail to certify. The 12 year old Eugenia Alldredge of Springer died from pneumonia after birth in Roy, leaving grieving parents Mr and Mrs Les Alldredge. Rev Jesse L Meredith former M E Pastor at Solano and Maxwell died of pneumonia in Chicago at Washington Park Hospital on Oct 18, aged 33, leaving wife and two sons Jerrold and Paul. He served Army Y work at Ft Bliss and Yuma and was buried in Smith Center Kansas.
Mr Velarde of Union County died of pneumonia at Plum Lee hospital. The remains were taken to Carizo for burial Thursday.
Harry Brown, who bought the Proctor farms near Mills, died Saturday of pneumonia after recovering from flu. He leaves a wife and six children. described as a strong, able bodied man in the prime of life. Funeral held Monday at Mills with interment in Mills cemetery.
The Santa Fe papers last week reported the escape of Chas E Long of Mosquero and another murderer from the penitentiary at Santa Fe. They are still at large. The community voices concern for those at Mosquero whose lives are jeopardized by his escape. Mrs Hart Baum traveled to Colorado Springs to care for her ill mother Mrs S Howie, planning to stay several weeks while Hart resumes single life.
Rev Bernard Butsler formerly of Wagon Mound writes from Longmont Colorado for his MA and has been called to the pastors of the First United Brethren Church at Longmont. He remains keen to keep track of friends here.
Rev J M Wilson traveled to Mills on Wednesday to lead the Thanksgiving Service. In Roy rabbits run wild with many dog chases in streets this week and a dozen or more rabbits have been caught. If country rabbit numbers mirror town activity, drives to thin the pests may be needed.

Crowe is vice chairwoman, Miss Vivian Griner heads Home Service, and Mrs. C. L. Justice leads the Membership Committee. The chapter plans relief work, overseas support, and a campaign to sew 100 dresses for Belgian and French children, urging local volunteers to contribute time and skill. The group reports about $1,000 in treasury after receiving about $400 from the Mountain Division in Denver.

T. E. Mitchell drove from Albert Saturday to visit his son Albert Mitchell who had just been mustered out at the training camp. They stayed through Monday and faced a blinding blizzard and deep snow on the trip home, relying on their high power car and knowledge of the road to stay safe.
