School Superintendent Hired at Roy High and Graded Schools
The Harding County Board hired Prof Hendricks of Dalhart Texas as Superintendent of Roy High and Roy graded schools. He will move with his family to Roy in June. Hendricks brings prior experience in Texline and other Texas districts and plans to assemble a strong teaching corps. Roy’s schools are expected to be the best yet, continuing its reputation as a top school town in Northeastern New Mexico.

Dinner Drive For Baseball Team At Ideal Tsectionery

Murder at Gladstone S S Leach killed in feud incident
A two year feud at Gladstone 95 miles north of Roy led to a shooting on the Leach farm injuring G H Starkey and killing S S Leach. Starkey and Ward fired after Leach allegedly reached for a rifle, with multiple shots exchanged as deputies moved to Clayton for custody. Decoration Day Exercises and Parade Planned
Decoration Day services will be held Monday May 30 under the American Legion Roy Post No 83. Ex servicemen should assemble at 9 30 a m in uniform at the Post Hall. The Roy Band will provide music and a street concert precedes the march to the cemetery. Stores will close all day, a ball game follows at the local diamond, and a special Roy Theatre picture is planned for the night. A full program will be published next week.

St George Graduation Exercises Highlight Ceremony and Prizes
Graduation exercises at St George School drew a large crowd for a well decorated program. Pupil laureates Luella Pendleton Alfredo Pacheco Missouri Gray Virginia Me Idina and Josephine Gonzales passed the Eighth Grade exam with good marks. The program opened with Voices from the Woods, featured the play Discontented Sisters, a humorous recitation, a vocal duet, and a valedictory by Luella Pendleton on perseverance. Diplomas were presented by Rev Father Vachon, with praise for teachers and the school. medals and prizes followed, with a full list to appear next issue.
