Churches held morning services with a noon basket dinner and an evening program. Union Sunday School at Clan Church offered a fitting Day service with an afternoon program and carnations for mothers. Catholic Mass and a talk by Father Vachon concluded the observance. People wore carnations widely.
IS CBS evening at the Roy Theatre was a great success socially and financially. The hall was crowded and the music at its best. The ladies who gave the dance are to be congratulated for a fine event that yielded a nice amount from their evening’s work.
Messrs Homer and Robert Holmes of Roy were moved to the laters farm early this week. The Helms family recently relocated to Roy. Mr Mitchell’s new house is under rapid construction, including a small cottage. A three room cottage on the Jam Simian ranch serves as a temporary home for Mr and Mrs Chr. D.P. Moore and E.J. Henry did street work. The Ogdens and Stuart family visited Mosquero. the Liberty school, taught by Mrs Folk, progresses well and she will teach another year. Mrs Folk has earned praise from patrons and children alike. Stuart recovered a lost rim from L N DeWeese. Mrs B S Stuart and children shopped in Roy.
The Wilson Company purchased 27 acres on the north end of the Old Bell near Mozquéra to lay out small farms and market them soon. The move aims to incorporate the territory into Harding County, hoping for rapid sales due to prime Mesa farming land and proximity to the county seat. News from Roy confirms Jonathan U Wagner as elect president of New Mexico Normal University at East Las Vegas, with Dr Roberts to step down June 1 and Mr Genov to take over.
The Solano correspondent reports Rev. E W McMillen’s Sunday visit and plans to travel to Nebraska to visit his pastor. local activity includes Sunday School outreach and several residents noted for various tasks. Ed Gwyer dined and fenced, Jim Livington’s garage incident is described. Josebud and M V Milburn are active in the area with land and nursing notes.

Monday morning at St George’s Chapel Rev Father Vachon joined Juan Mascaranez and Bersabe Rivera in marriage. The couple’s relatives attended as the ceremony took place with few guests present. The narrative mentions Mascaranez as son of ls A j Mascaranez and a Solano area address. Separately a large diamond project begins with a tall diamond on land near Pendleton, including a grandstand, bleachers, and a ten year lease for permanent facilities. Surveyors Roy Ceavery and aides Baalin and Lopez map forty acres bought from government for a cemetery. Plans include 24 by 28 foot lots with central walkways, five main entrances, multiple driveways, a 12 foot perimeter road, and woven wire fencing with steel gates. Deeds issued on full payment. costs to be announced soon.
Master Lewis Waters visiting Sprinton with his boy friends and relatives. Hazel DeFrees reported quite sick at her home in the part of town.
Dudley Durrin is in town this week to tout Roy as the best town in the new county. He argues Roy surpasses the County Seat and declares his preferred rivalry in local matters.
Work began Monday morning on the new Baum building on the east side. It will house a business office when completed.
