Town Board Holds Regular Meeting in Roy
The Town Board met last Monday in regular session to read and accept routine business. They approved cleaning up the dump grounds west of town, tasked Street Commissioner Grunig with street and alley cleanup, planned an engine house and truck storage connected to the derrick, and decided on rock and pebble dash. Night marshal Gibson was added to the payroll with 10 percent extra, paid by local business interests, and required to punch a time clock hourly. Manuel Aranda Dies After Long Tuberculosis Battle
Manuel Aranda, long sick with tuberculosis, died Tuesday morning at 10. A former training camp recruit who later returned from overseas in poor health, he lived on a Red Cross allowance before failing quietly. He leaves a young wife and infant, plus his father and several siblings. Funeral attended by soldier boys at a Catholic cemetery south of town. Mrs. Albert Branch visits relatives nearby.
