Decoration Day Services at Roy Marked by Legion Honor
About 1,500 residents attended the Roy Decoration Day program led by the American Legion Roy Post with Ladies Auxiliary. State Commander M. A. Otero spoke on forgotten promises to veterans, and a Certificate of Merit for local employment support was awarded to Roy and vicinity. The event closed with a cemetery service for Private Elmer Cole and community grave decorations.

Roy School Board hires teachers and opts for suit plans
At a Friday meeting the Roy School Board hired Miss Dunn and others for elementary and high school teaching ranks, naming Cameron Bazzill as superintendent and re hiring T. P. Potts for Agriculture. The board authorized suing five insurers for 45 000 after settlement offers ranged from 20 to 75 percent. The district re rents the Baum building and plans new rental sites by September first. A public ball game Logan versus Roy drew large crowds before a hail storm truncated play.

Serious Auto Accident Near Roy Injures Local Manager
W. T. Jackson, manager of the Farmers' Mill and Elevator at Solano, was nearly killed when his Ford tourer rolled and pinned him under the vehicle three miles southeast of Roy last Saturday. He was found unconscious by John Weisdorfer and son Mott, treated by Dr. Self, and taken to Roy where he began recovering. The car sustained minimal damage beyond a crushed front wheel, and Jackson narrowly escaped strangulation as the car lay across his neck.

Ladies Union Aid Meeting Nets 19.50 at Bake Sale
The Ladies Union Aid of the Christian Church met with Mrs. Geo. Lucas twelve miles northeast of Roy last Friday May 26 with many ladies present. Plans for future work were made and on May 27 a bake sale and ice cream sale yielded 19.50. The next meeting is at Mrs. Finley on S Main St June 9.

Professor Cameron Bazzill to Lead Roy Schools This Summer
Professor Cameron Bazzill now elected superintendent of schools for this place visited Roy this week on business. His home is San Jon and he is an instructor at the State Normal School in the summer. Bazzill and family plan to move to Roy around July 15 and assume active charge of the schools on August first.

The Texas New Mexico Highway Association met in Tucumcari on May 20 1922 by call of President Mitchell and notices from Secretary Warrender Directors ratified the constitution and by laws from the February 1922 Logan New Mexico meeting The board discussed highway marking and ordered quotations for metal markers posts and temporary wooden markers between Logan and David Hill to aid tourists. Other general matters were discussed as the United States tourist travel is expected to rise once the highway is advertised and improved for towns along the route.
