Frank Roy hosted a Sunday barbecue at Chicosa Ranch with many guests hindered by rain. A large quarter of beef and a boiler of frigotes topped the feast, with leftovers sufficient for those delayed by weather. Guests joined in roping and branding a fine herd of spring calves raised on the ranch.
Lightning snapped a telephone line toward Solano destroying poles. The storm caused phones to go dead as contraband cases disturbed town residents. Jas Turner Jr. moved from Dawson with his wife and baby from the claim home Wednesday, offering excuses but showing a desire to keep them at home.
Miss Belle Van Horn returns from a Canyon visit and goes to Koehler on Sunday to visit her mother, Mrs. Henry Stone.
Rev C W Hearne of Tucumcari will preach at the Christian Church in Roy on Sunday July 26 at 11 A M and 8 P M. All are invited to attend the services.
E A Naranjo, a young native schoolteacher, becomes a new subscriber and joins the local educational community as the school year begins.
Mrs Janet Speers president of the Rebekah Assembly of New Mexico will visit the Rebekah Lodge in Kay on Saturday evening August 1. The Odd Fellows are invited to a social session with the Auxiliary lodge, with refreshments arranged. All members and visiting members are urged to attend.
Mr and Mrs Clyde Hudson of Omega Oklahoma welcomed a fine pair of twin boys born since June 26. Clyde plans to arrive soon after his car, left here last spring, is retrieved.
The young daughters of Roy’s Club Ladies formed the Sunshine Club last Friday with Miss Dolly Brown guiding them. They elected officers and enjoyed refreshments after the event. Dorothy Gibbs was named president and Dolly Brown secretary.
With wheat yields of 26 to 30 bushels per acre and cornfields rivaling Missouri or Iowa, the mesa is about to draw eastern farmer attention. Now is the moment to recognize land value and abandon the notion of selling it cheaply.

Charles Christman sentenced last spring to the Penitentiary has been declared sane and moved to the State Hospital at Las Vegas for further care and observation.
Mrs J Floersheim eyed downtown outing last Saturday but relapsed and is regaining strength. Mrs J H Deubler of Seiling Oklahoma and her daughter Mrs Charles Stanley arrived Tuesday to visit their son and brother L E Deubler. The surprise visit interrupted harvest but welcomed. Mrs Stanley handles business and visits friends while L E Deubler Jr arrived Wednesday morning seeking board and lodging.
Mrs. K. L. Dunbar captured a young Badger on Saturday night out on the Prairie. She rode up to the animal, jumped from her horse, and grabbed it by the neck. The creature appeared to enjoy the petting and is described as a real beauty.
A report states the Maxwell Irrigated Tract is sold. Mallock has signed again and Mr. Vail is slated to be the future mogul. The piece questions dry farmers accepting land sales and defends homesteaders as truer Americans before ditch company influence.
Thomas F. Hinkert secretary to the State Fair commission announces demand for state fair premium books has been so large this year that a second edition is necessary. Those desiring the premium book should send orders to him at once as the year offers an exceptionally fine line of exhibit material.
Miss Josephine Pacheco went to Dawson on Sunday to visit her father who is employed there. She has been working hard at the restaurant and deserves a vacation.
