Alice Jackson of Mills Dies After Ill Health
Alice Jackson of Mills died Monday at Tucumcari Hospital after an operation. She had been ill since before Christmas and was a saleslady in the Wilson store for three years, earlier a teacher in Mora and Colfax County schools. Her sister Mary Earnshaw of Kansas City and niece Lucile Baugh of Pleasanton were with her. The body was shipped to Shawnee Kansas for funeral services held Thursday. burial followed with her parents in Shawnee Cemetery. A full obituary will run next week. the little son of Mr and Mrs George Mitchell near the county line is reported gravely ill with pneumonia and slowly improving.

Lightning Strikes Lusk Residence Nearly Destroys Home
Lightning struck the north Roy home of Attorney J B Lusk during a Sunday rainstorm tearing the four room cement block house apart. Mrs Lusk and daughter Lena suffered burns and bruises while the younger children and rest of family were knocked unconscious. Neighbors aided the injured as Dr Gibbs treated them at Plumlee hospital. The blast blew out windows and damaged furniture. the Lusk family plans repairs and reoccupying by week’s end.
