Logan Bridge in New Mexico Nears Opening This Saturday
J. J. Hyder of Logan reports the Logan bridge foreman told the American that traffic could begin on the new bridge not later than Saturday January 21. Nearly finished except for the north approach this is the largest bridge in the state with a 420 foot span.

Lloyd Scott Hurt In Horse Gate Accident
Lloyd Scott was seriously hurt Tuesday when the horse Here riding became entangled in a gate, sending him and two others to the ground. He remained unconscious Thursday morning, with injuries not yet determined. Jimmie Scott regained consciousness shortly after. Willers and Leatherman assisted at the scene.

Body of Private Elmer Cole Laid to Rest in Roy Cemetery
The funeral for Private Elmer Cole was held in Roy with full American Legion escort and ex-sailors pallbearers. Rev. Cook delivered the oration as the church and town honored a WWI soldier who died in France after a grenade incident in 1918. Cole, born 1888 near Cameron Texas, lived in Roy area after moving with his family, and his death at age 20 sparked a communal mass funeral with all local institutions closed.

New Methodist Church Planned in Roy Near Christian Church
Arrangements completed for a new Methodist Church South in Roy with lots bought and work to start soon. Building estimated at $3,000 to $4,000 with basement depending on subscriptions. Over $1,500 raised in services, and a $1,000 loan from the Home Board kicks off funds. A fire destroyed thousands of bushels of corn near Roy, about 12 miles north, causing nearly $2,000 in loss with no insurance. Incendiary origin suspected in multiple fires including on the W. H. McCarger Ranch. High school orchestra practicing and set to perform for the public. Roy residents urge support for the church project.
