A group of friends hosted a Thursday evening reception at the Roy Theatre for Mrs Brashears father and brother, Messrs Hardy of Hannibal Missouri visiting Roy. Guests enjoyed card games dancing music and a fine lunch. Mr Hardy, over 70 but active, and his son Thomas made favorable impressions and hopes to relocate.
The Spanish-American received the bill of lading for a new Lincotype machine purchased by Mr. Ogden in April and delayed shipment until December. Shipped from Brooklyn by water to New Orleans and then by rail to Roy, it should arrive soon. The Intertype model will modernize the office in northeastern New Mexico and reduce reliance on Raton.
A Tuesday gathering at the Pendleton home in the west part of town honored Miss Allene, second eldest daughter. The party, organized by the Bible Students Sunday School class led by Wade, featured games and amusements and a lunch served by Pendleton and helpers.
Mrs Henry Stone suffered a dislocated hip after falling last Saturday night at the M N Baker home. She was rushed to Plumlee hospital where the leg was set and she remains bedridden for weeks. She had just recovered from a major Colorado operation and prayers are that no serious complications arise.
John Albertson former jeweler now in California visited Roy last Saturday to reconnect with old friends. He stopped at Beck Motor Co. and drove home a new Ford.
Reginald Gunn celebrated his 15th birthday at the Gunn ranch home south of town with many playmates and friends. Mrs Gunn and Mrs Rhyne helped serve a lunch. guests played games and shared stories in a festive evening.
Melville Floersheim, recently on the sick list at his Springer home, is visiting relatives in Roy this week. The statement places citizens’ right to life above all else.
C. Ernest Anderson is appointed clerk of the School Board and has assumed bookkeeping duties following the resignation of Irvin Ogden, senior.
