The Deaton brothers were in town for land business Wednesday. They plan to incorporate and construct a town hall at Mills, signaling local development and formal settlement expansion.
Remigio Lopez came down from Dawson Tuesday to visit his family. He has a good position in the big store there and is doing as well as a married man can away from his family. He took his family with him to Dawson Thursday where they will reside in future. Many of their friends here regret the necessity for their going.
Mrs Ida Church gains state permission to resume the name of her former husband and father of her children. She will henceforth be Mrs Ida E Watson, renouncing the late husband’s name, and she plans to continue managing the Roy Cafe under the new cognomen.
Kansas City visitor Mrs Lottie La Mar, staying here since before the holidays, contemplates returning aboard the Sluggish Missouri. The artist offered hand painted china among the season’s costliest Christmas gifts and impressed local ladies with her versatility. She departed Thursday for home while expressing keen interest in the future.
Preparations unfold at the Vigil home for the marriage of Carolina Vigil to Leopoldo Martinez. The event, described as among the most charming in years, draws the groom’s sister and her husband to assist in the ceremonies.
Miss Faith Collins departed for her Illinois home Wednesday after a two week visit and vacation spent here. She is matron of a Tl hospital and returned to resume her duties.

H. B. Jones of Tucumcari, president of the Roy Trust and Savings Bank, attended the bank’s annual stockholders meeting in the city. Jones is a prominent financier, and Roy prides itself on his leadership of the bank.
Steve Morris buys forty four more town lots in the Montezuma Addition to Roy enlarging his holdings to near monopoly in the area. He is considered a possible mayoral candidate when the town incorporates but is keeping his other ambitions secret for now.

All Kansans are invited to attend the 58th anniversary of Kansas statehood. The event aims to be a fitting celebration and asks residents to participate and assist in the festivities.
The Baptist Ladies' Aid Society announces a lunch event at Goodman's Store on Saturday January 17. Patrons are invited to support the fundraiser with any purchase or donation. Proceeds go to church missions and community service.
