Oscar Blunk and Paul Anderson are finally seeing progress on a new home after delays. The Liberty Garage advertises new Chevrolets this week as a big truck is highlighted. J F Young arrives with stock and goods to find the Nutter family ill and unable to give possession of their farm. He rents Rev Russel place at Laguna Seca and moves in temporarily. T R Pint returns from Oklahoma with a new Dodge car and will stay to build a new house on his local farm.
Past weeks highlight the need to extend rural telephone service to every community and home. The Flu epidemic may boost business for Roy’s system. Kudos go to Mr. Gilstrap and his wife for continuous service and relief work, staying at the switchboard despite fatigue. The press notes hope for a spring expansion linking all hamlets to Roy by phone.
Mora county ministers are urged to attend a union Pastors Conference in Albuquerque on February 19 and 20. The Interchurch World Movement is supported by national leaders and wealthy donors to promote church cooperation and service. All NM pastors receive free rail travel and Pullman fares, with local hosting under a Harvard Plan for three days. The National Wool Growers Association meets in Roswell on March 8 and 9 with education and entertainment planned. Also mentions local updates on family and scholarships offer by Y M C A to ex-soldiers and other unrelated notes.
Liberty resident Mrs. T. M. Ogden urges caution against influenza citing fear of prairie fires and isolation over winter. She advocates keeping hands clean avoiding crowds and properly dressing for health, urging meals at home and fresh air to prevent illness.
