The Goodman Mercantile Company will take over the Foster building once occupied by the Mint Saloon and remodel it for a general merchandise stock and an up to date department store. Plans include a possible two story extension to grow the business further, led by founder Hermann Goodman.
The Banke will remain closed all day Monday December 26 to celebrate Christmas.
The ceremony was held Tuesday morning December 20 at nine o'clock at the Catholic Church in Rey uniting Miss Dolores Tafoya 18 of Rey and Marcelano Aguilar 22 of Union County. Rev Father Cellier of Springer performed the vows. A large audience attended both the wedding and the celebratory dance at Bushkevitz hall that evening.
Impeachment against G. HL Morris Justice of the Peace Solano was dropped at a Las Vegas District Court hearing. The ruling notes no wrongful intent and Morris will continue as P. in Solano.
Marvin Malone eleven bound over by Squire Gare after Deputy Biernbaum arrested him for the The Moersheim Mercantile theft two months prior. Brother Willie Malone is also suspected but away in Dawson. Bond set at 1000. He will be sent to Mora under care until April Grand Jury session. A collection was raised to clothe him for the trip.
The Embroidery Club surprised Mrs. Nellie Sheltven at her northwest town home with a noon luncheon last Saturday. Members traveled in, each providing dishes, and the group then held its regular meeting with recitations songs and music. By four p.m. the ladies left calling it one of the season’s most enjoyable functions.
Mr and Mrs W H Wilcox parted yesterday at the depot en route to Denver for business. She visits her mother back east and friends hope the separation leads to a smooth period apart with a pleasant vacation ahead.

Caledon Vigil of Gulnase Colorado found his 16 year old nephew Marcos Belasquez who ran away from his widowed mother two years ago. The two traveled to Carrizo and stayed overnight in Roy before capture.
District attorney Charles W. G. Ward of Las Vegas appeared in Roy as the prosecution attorney in the Call case. He is described as an agreeable man who handles the matter without bluster.
Church services will be held at the School house in Roy. New years night conducted by Rev. YS. Rossel. All are invited to attend this service.
The Gillispie case against W R Whiteman and Mr and Mrs Pete Gimson went to trial in Justice Garcia's court in Roy. The dispute centers on whether a range cow adopts a calf or a calf suckles a cow not its mother. Defendants were bound over to the Grand Jury on $300 bonds each. the case costs the Commonwealth over $125 and leaves ownership of the calf unresolved.
Christmas Ball invitations issued for a Grand Christmas Ball at Roy Opera House on Monday evening December 26 under young people of Roy. A Box Supper and Ball by the M W A Camp at the same hall December 31. Other church and social events announced for holiday week.
Henry Ogden nephew of the editor arrived in Roy from What Cheer to see the country. He is the brother of Irvin Ogden Jr.
