Mrs Goodman of Roy dies after stomach illness

Telegram from Tucumcari reports Mrs Herman Goodman died Tuesday evening after a short illness. She and her husband Mr Goodman moved to Tucumcari in 1917 where they built a large grocery and meat business. She was a Rebekah and active in local social circles and leaves many memories of Christmas trees and community goodwill. Her body will be buried beside her mother in Portland, Oregon, with a full obituary to follow.

Farmer Not a Book Keeper Announces New Son

A neat announcement from Tucumcari tells of the arrival of a baby boy to Mr and Mrs W L Russell. The infant weighs 11 pounds and will be named Mark Tilling Russell. Well wishers on the mesa offer congratulations and hope the child may grow to be a great statesman.

Red Beach Dies Face of Stockman News From Elks Club

H P Beach known as Red Beach dies in Sacramento at about sixty. A Texas cowboy who lived in Springer for thirty years and later at the Elks Home in Sacramento, he was a generous, sociable figure with many friends from Trinidad to Paso. He wrote the Stockman last year from Sacramento, saying he expected to return, and was buried there.

Little Babe Freddie Moore Jr. Dies at Five Months

The five month old son of Mr and Mrs TF CG Moore of Kephart died Tuesday night at Plumilee Hospital after a brief illness of erysipelas He was born July 30 1922 at the family home south of Kephart The funeral was held at Gladstone Cemetery with Rev J A Foster in charge The Spanish American extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

Charles L Fraker Dies Pioneer of Wagon Mound at 81

Charles L Fraker age 81 died at his Wagon Mound home Saturday morning November 25 due to old age. A pioneer New Mexico resident, he came via Santa Fe trail with ox team long before the railroad. Survived by sons Arthur and Charles L Jr the latter in Wagon Mound drug business. Funeral held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon with large turnout from Mora county and southern Colfax.

Radios Installed In Roy Bring Battery Of Listeners

A radio bug visited Roy weeks ago and seven radiophones have been installed in and near the town. Listeners to news and concerts include Wenzell Swain Raymond Pendleton Ernest Anderson Gibbs Brothers Karl Guthman with two sets and Anderson Battery Co. Many more residents are placing orders via Anaaen Battery Co agents. Receiving sets cost about 125 dollars, making radio a common purchase. Mr Guthman has one of the state’s best receiving sets and broadcasts reach from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Mrs Van Buskirk and Mr Buskirk, former Roy residents now in Los Angeles, plan to winter there after selling their ranch in 1911 to Lester Flint.

Three Basketball Games Highlight Weekend Action

Colmar brought three teams for a Saturday event with Roy. The third boys team won 12 to 11, Roy led the high school girls 10 to 9, and the first boys team posted a 27 to 9 victory marking the boys first win. The girls’ only loss came to Springer as coach impact shows through gains. Domestic Science girls study meal planning and service duties, now serving breakfast and soon luncheons and dinner.
