Rosebud Sunday School Party Promotes Young Pupils

Mrs G R Abernathy hosted a party for 22 pupils promoted from the 8 5 Kindergarten to the Morning Star class. Guests included Mrs Tyler Judy and others. Children enjoyed games in the orchard and barn plus lunch under shade trees.

Death of Miss Ethel Hornbaker 17 in New Mexico

Miss Ethel Hornbaker aged 17 died at her father John Hornbaker's home near Roy on Tuesday after a long illness. Born March 7 1898 in Springfield Illinois she and her father moved to New Mexico seeking relief from tuberculosis. Survived by father two sisters Rita and Edith and an adopted brother John, funeral conducted by Rev Phiveeee at Roy Cemetery with many mourners attending.

Mosquero base ball team visited Roy last Sunday in new attire and dominated the game. Roy volunteers, spurred by civic pride, fielded a weak effort as Mosquero won 9 to 5. The match highlighted that talent must be cultivated to succeed in baseball.
