The Saturday night home talent show drew a good crowd with varied acts. The sketch by Prof. Johnson Miss Hazel Sheltren and Alberto Branch was highlighted as the cleverest, while school children impressed with their poise and talent. Upcoming events include the High School Play Graduation and a busy sequence of entertainments.
Clem Williams reports his sister Miss Lottie Williams who proved up on a Kansas Valley claim recently has married two weeks ago becoming Mrs. Thos Courtney of Scammon Kansas. Congratulations to the groom. J Frank Smith of Mosquero and his family returned Sunday from a wagon tramp to Colfax visiting daughter Mrs Frank Loftin whose husband is section foreman there. The Smiths camped for the night in Roy and resumed their drive Monday for their farm home at Mosquero.
Hon Severino Martinez of Black Lake passes through Roy on his way home Tuesday. He reports the sheep at his ranch east of Roy in good condition for this spring season.
State Senator and Albuquerque lawyer Isaac Barth, a leading Democrat in New Mexico, spent Saturday and Sunday in Ray on professional business. An acknowledgment notes a brief Sunday morning call as he travels onward to Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.
Mrs. Herman Goodman shows a twelve year old fern gifted by Rev. Father Lammert formerly of Buyeros now in Bernalillo. The prized plant has fronds over a yard long and is kept in the parlor as a valued family member.
The Kansas Club held its regular meeting hosted by Mrs. D. Ella Romine at her residence. Guests praised a banquet style feast at the Branch Hotel and enjoyed Sun Flowers displays amid nostalgic reminiscences of early pioneer days.
A Mexican girl was shot in the head at Dawson last Wednesday by a Mexican lover enraged by jealousy. He fled by wading four to five miles down a waist deep irrigation ditch, a posse tracked him through eight inches of snow near Saltpetre canyon, and he was found unconscious. He died an hour after returning to Dawson Hospital.
Mrs Romine resigns after five years in the Roy Primary Department to return to Cherryville Kansas where she will resume her former Public Schools role with a substantial salary increase. She has 320 acres and proved up on it this winter. Her excellence as a Primary teacher is noted along with her prior work on the New Mexico State NormalCourse of Study.
A case was called Monday at Solano against Miss Golda Troop. The opponent contested her claim but failed to appear despite Troop bringing witnesses. The neighborhood would view the nonappearance as disagreeable if it had occurred to him. Troop is praised as a faithful homesteader, and the action is labeled dirty to cause her trouble and expense.
Newbern N. Durrett, a Solano resident, served as a caller at the office Tuesday. He is living and making improvements on his claim and will prove up before long.
Mrs Grover daughter of Mr and Mrs Morris formerly of Solano passed through Roy Tuesday en route from her Texas home to visit relatives in the south part of the state.
Miss Shirley Nutter entertained the Beau Note Club on Tuesday evening with her sister-in-law Mrs. Nutter of Dawson as the guest of honor.
Rev J. S. Russel will deliver the Baccalaureate Sermon at the Church in Roy on Sunday April 19. All are invited to attend this special service and participate in the uplifting event.
Arrangements are underway to move the Roy post office to the new postmaster John son with a busy period ahead during the final school month and the opening post office month. The retiring J L Swaim is praised for four years of universal courtesy and satisfactory service and his methods are commended to the new administration for a pleasant transition.

Joe Allen of Solano visited Donald Upton at La Cinta Canyon and while stopping to rest and feed his team used an old tub to water the horses. Both animals fell ill and one died after they drank poisoned water prepared for prairie dogs. The incident is a serious loss and a regrettable accident.
Fred Fluhman returned Tuesday from a Texas trip and says Texas does not look better than New Mexico this spring. A dozen people are coming soon to look at Sand here. He has been looking around considerably of late but returns better satisfied each time.
