Election of School Directors in Roy District

The Roy district held a lively school board election with 236 votes. Citizens ticket candidates Remigio Lopez H J L Swaim C L Wensell and Dr C Plumlee led totals while Mrs Nellie Willcox Mrs Grace V Ogden and others also ran. The new board will include Mrs Willcox Mrs Ogden Mr Swaim Dr Plumlee and Mr Rateliff for varied terms.

Postoffice bid sought for Roy office lease in growing town

Inspector Hood announced bids for a ten year lease on a Roy postoffice room as the office outgrows its quarters. The north Floersheim building room is a likely site with new fixtures planned. Snow White Opera Praised by Home Talent Crew

The Opera Snow White given under Eugenia Roy’s direction last Friday evening drew full Assembly Hall crowds. Miss Dan Jenkins led as Snow White with a strong soprano and Frank Schultz as Prince impressed with a rich tenor. Mrs. Mary Waters as Queen succeeded in portraying wickedness with grace. C. S. Justice as Carl the Huntsman delivered a notable performance. Dwarfs and child choruses highlighted the show, raising funds for the School Library. About $35 above expenses. Will Loftin and Fred Edmond visited from Mosquero with horse bills.

The 1 C C F of Roy plans an April 26 anniversary celebration for their Order as lodges in other states observe it. A committee was formed to arrange events but unsettled conditions and other important near term happenings hinder planning. The date may host a big Lodge Banquet tied to the membership contest.
