Washington April 2 1917 New Mexico and Arizona sent new senators to the U S Senate as Catron Fall Smith and Awburnt took the oath before Vice President Sherman. The scene in the chamber drew packed galleries and applause from Republicans and Democrats alike. The event included a lottery style drawing for term lengths and noted the dawn of New Mexico’s full Senate representation. Eighth Grade Examination Held in Roy Oklahoma Area

The eastern Mora county eighth grade examination will be at Roy High School on Friday and Saturday April 12 and 15. Seventh and eighth graders may write. 75 percent required for passing with no branch below 80 percent earning medals from the state board.
