On March 18 Eastern Star men escorted their wives to the Elite Cafe for a banquet prepared by a male committee. Rev. Cooke of East Las Vegas served as toastmaster, with speeches from Victor Bixby Clyde Hooper and F S Strickland. Afterward, guests moved to the Masonic Hall for progressive five hundred, with plans to continue biweekly events.

The Roy Trading Company under new manager Mr Porter is altering the store layout. The attic between the main building and shoe room and the partition to the old temporary store are removed to improve space and light. The meat market is moved to the back, repainted and replastered, separating it from groceries. Ceiling elevations this summer will increase light, with further changes expected to make the Roy store one of the best. Scenes in a Union Depot shines at Roy Theatre play
Roy and vicinity enjoy a charitable home talent show titled Scenes in a Union Depot under the Methodist church Ladies Aid. Locals fill the depot and money raised nears one hundred dollars to fund a donation to a new church. A featured negro minstrel segment enhances the evening, with musical numbers by Dr Brown, Vern Caris and S E Paxton. Mrs C L Snyder and Mrs Doe Collins visited with Mrs Lillian Bess during the Polly excursion.

Normal Auditorium To Be Cultural Center In Las Vegas
The New Mexico Normal University auditorium at Las Vegas is under construction and will seat 2,000 with a 70 by 30 stage. Planned as a Romanesque brick and sandstone structure, the project aims to enrich music, art, drama and oratory and establish a regional center of culture. Funds total about $188,000 with $4,000 needed to finish, aided by gifts including $25,000 from Tfeid and state appropriations. Local citizens push for completion in time for the 1922 summer term.

Walter W. Hart longtime Red River Valley Co. employee died in Kansas City on March 22 1922 after pneumonia ended a medical treatment trip. Funeral held in Tucumcari Baptist Church with Tucumcari Lodge No 27 A F and A M conducting burial at Sunyside Cemetery. Hart born March 18 1871 in Gainsville Texas. remembered by Roy and Mesa residents.

Contract Let on Cimarron to Taos Highway Project
The Texas New Mexico Highway contract for project No. 81 Cimarron to Taos was awarded to J R Dooley of Santa Fe. The 12.76 mile section will cost about 54,912.08 when finished. Survey work also started on the Tucumcari to Logan route and will soon move from Cel to Mosqueor.

Soldier Bonus Bill Passes ESS House
The soldier bonus bill passed the House of Representatives last Thursday afternoon by a vote of 333 to 70. Debates suggested the Senate would kill the bill, though some optimistically saw a good chance for passage. Regardless, it will likely wait in the Senate amid treasure and tariff-related bills. Last Saturday Mrs C E Anderson wife of County Clerk Anderson of Mosquero celebrated her 26th birthday.
