Negotiations between county authorities and Abran Abeyta and his bondsmen are suspended pending the appointment of a district judge. A judge is expected soon after the President returns to Washington in two weeks. Action will then be taken on Abeyta's shortage.

C T Brown faced a perilous incident Thursday evening when a gasoline lamp exploded in his assay hood. He grabbed the burning lamp and threw it out the window, a second blast following like a cannon. Brown escaped with singed eyebrows and minor burns, aided by blankets and Doctor Keyes. A second explosion ruined the lamp bottom. Prominent ad content follows for DeWitt's Witch Hazel Salve, praised by Ledbetter of Shreveport for curing after other remedies failed. Sold by A. E. Howell.
