Ex-Treasurer Abran Abeyta Arrested On Embezzlement Charge
Abran Abeyta former Socorro county treasurer was arrested in Green's court on embezzlement charges and bound for 10000. Negotiations offered by Abeyta to pay 16000 into the treasury were rejected by the county board citing larger possible deficiencies and prior statements of larger sums. The board continues to pursue settlement while awaiting a district judge.

Wallace Captured After Long NM Chase By Deputy Lewis
Deputy Sheriff Bob Lewis ended one of New Mexico’s longest pursuits by capturing Wallace, the McCammon slayer, at a remote ranch house near the Zafi foothills 200 miles from the death scene. Wallace, who gave no resistance, said he killed McCammon in self defense and is awaiting court. The narrative notes community sorrow over the fatal clash between two well regarded citizens.
