Decrying Robberbunds and Skienbunds And Catarrh Cure Ad
A letter from Dennis Socorro critiques a local grazing law as Robberbunds and mocks Bernalillo lawmakers as Skinembund. The piece then pivots to medical mock ads, praising Hall’s Catarrh Cure with a $100 reward for incurable deafness and promoting Hall’s Family Pills and oats for sale at Geo. E. Cook's livery stable.
Stockmen Fear Loss With Rising Settler Land Use
Stockmen and sheep men worry over shrinking open range as settlers move in. They fear grazing land will vanish and force many out of business unless they secure 160 acre parcels. A local landowner notes farming on small plots could turn land more valuable than grazing. The era of the stall sheep and cattleman may end, yielding to larger tracts run free of disturbance. Yet settlers bring progress, cities, churches, schools, and lawmaking that benefit civilization.
