The Ladies Aid society of the Presbyterian church met on March 2 1908 and adopted resolutions mourning the death of Mrs Rhoda Martin Blackington They commend her as a willing and conscientious worker and extend sympathy to her husband Dr F Blickington The minutes will record these resolutions and the Chieftain is asked to publish them.

William B Childers Prominent New Mexico Lawyer Dies
William B Childers a leading New Mexico figure and skilled attorney died at his Albuquerque home after pneumonia contracted during a visit to Washington. A former U S attorney for New Mexico and a onetime Democrat who shifted to the Republican cause his funeral was held under Masonic auspices. He was 69 and left a wife and three daughters. Tedious details note his Tennessee birth in 1884 and long civic work.

Miss Edna Hammel entertains many Socorro friends at her North California street home in a leap year party. Five hundred is the main game with pretty favors for ladies and souvenirs for gentlemen. Refreshments are served as Mrs. C. T. Brown and Miss Cora Moffett win top games. Winners receive a jewels case for Miss Moffett and a sterling silver match case for O. T D. Robbins. A long guest list includes multiple local residents and Miss Ema Liles, recently returned from Carthage after teaching six months.
