Martin relief bill ruled unconstitutional by judge
Judge John R. McFie of the first judicial district declared the Martin flood sufferers relief act of 1905 void. The measure appropriated 50000 for thirteen of New Mexico's counties and four cities including Socorro to build dykes and supply seed grain. The ruling cites the Springer Act and notes the act is local and for a private purpose, with funds issued to meet the appropriation's debt.

Early Tuesday morning the old government granary on Fort Marcy in Santa Fe burned down totally. The large frame structure served as a warehouse and held six car loads of hotel furniture, owned by Otto Retsch with an estimated loss of 8000 dollars, partly insured.
