A Chicago dispatch reports the Santa Fe intends to gain control of the Oceanic Steamship company which runs ships from San Francisco to the Hawaiian islands Tahiti and Australian ports. The line is presently operated at a loss and the Oceanic purchase would supply the desired Pacific steamer assets.
