Judge Freeman Urges Provisions for New Mexico Statehood

A letter from Judge A. A. Freeman of the Pecos valley urges New Mexico voters to demand a constitution with strict provisions. He calls for anti gambling laws, railroad rate limits, no free passes for workers, fixed terms and pay, three readings for bills, a three judge supreme court, county indebtedness limits, and open elections for judges and officials to prevent railroad control. He warns against allowing railroads to shape state policy and favors loyal public service over private influence.
