San Antonio celebrated the Fourth with music, concerts, boat rides, and civic spirit led by A. H. Hilton and other locals. Visitors from Carthage, Valverde, San Pedro, and Socorro joined the festivities. Doctor Bacon delivered the day’s address, the San Antonio Military Band performed, and revelers enjoyed the hall later that night. Also reported: an 18 year old boy was wounded by Probate Judge A. J. Captain Henry A Greene commander of Co G 1st Infantry California Volunteers died June 23 1903 in Providence Rhode Island at age 76. He recruited Company G from Nevada county mining camps in July 1861 and was mustered August 10 1861 at Presidio Barracks San Francisco by Major Drum becoming color company. Sole survivor of those in New Mexico after discharge August 31 1864 he was praised as brave and courteous by Samant C Martin Brigiat Co G 1st Inf Cal Vols.
