Hagerman Inauguration Marks Santa Fe Ceremony
Governor Hagerman took the oath Monday noon January 22 1906 in Santa Fe hall of representatives before territorial dignitaries and a large crowd. He delivered a modest inaugural address stressing duty to the people and to the President and Interior Secretary Roosevelt Hitchcock. The Palace hotel reception drew about 2000 attendees and a grand ball lasted into the early hours.

The bride, adopted daughter of Manuel Gallegos y Garcia, and groom, Clyde cattleman, were celebrated with a grand Garate house ball in the evening and gifts for Miss Josephine Baca from Hon. A. A. Freeman. A fire alarm later reported Fischer block smoke before hose company extinguished flames. Superintendent Torres urges school boards to collect poll tax and observe Lincoln’s birthday as Flag Day in public schools.
