Citizens of Socorro pledge donations to build a drainage ditch proposed by City Engineer O. R. Smith to drain a large eastern lake area. Contributions from local residents and businesses support the project amid health and welfare concerns.
The Albuquerque Journal reports several attempts to wreck Santa Fe trains at San Antonio New Mexico this week culminating Tuesday night in the shooting of a section foreman repairing a broken switch lock. The bullet pierced his hand as he sought help. Authorities suspect local natives seeking revenge and will pursue the would be wreckers while tightening precautions. Also noted is the Socorro State Bank stockholders meeting January 7 1907 for director election and business, and J Leeson's illness with slow recovery in the city.
