Great meteorite found in western Mexico by Prof Ward
Prof Henry A Ward reports a meteorite over 50 tons in weight, 13 feet 1 inch long, buried about 20 feet in earth in western Mexico. Small fragments broke away while the main mass remains. Transport to the seacoast 71 miles away estimated to cost over 50 000 dollars. A second note cites a natural soap mine near Ashcroft British Columbia with 275 tons extracted and borax making up about one fifth of the material and an estimated 20 000 tons remaining.
