Bohemians Plan New Mexico Colony Near Socorro

Bohemian settlers from Chicago form an American Bohemian colony in the Rio Grande valley near Socorro New Mexico. Five hundred immigrants will receive small land tracts and become actual settlers with their families in a nonsectarian community including Protestants Catholics and Liberalists. Col Max Kirchenman head of the movement and president of the American Bohemian Association toured Chavez County to discuss feasibility and artesian well plans, asserting the project aims to heal congested Chicago districts rather than imitate Zion City.
