Report from Challis riders details DeWitt & Altham stage to the Yellow Jacket mines and Morgan Creek summit. They praise the road, discuss the Yellow Jacket mine's ore, the sixty two stamp mill, and the Colum bia company plant. Leroy Hilman of Bayhorse and Annie M Centaurus of Custer were married at the bride’s home in Custer on September 1 1897 by Rev Coason Challis. The ceremony was followed by a bountiful family repast and the couple will keep house at the Skylark mine where Hilman has long served as foreman. Local road work begins near Bayhorse and wheat crop estimates are high in Lewiston's Northwest belt. Local papers note Albion Times lease and various social updates.
