J A Czizek manager of the Lost Packer companys Loon creek Idaho gold copper venture traveled from Custer to attend the annual meeting. A strong board of directors was elected with Czizek as President and vows of renewed energy to develop the mine, build wagon roads and a mill, and improve the property for a larger production next year.
Challis Idaho notes report Crandall Whitcomb visiting, Mullen mines at Custer trip, and a strong slate of local events. A 40x60 furnace at White Knob smelter overloaded but workmen escaped unhurt. Forbes released on writ. Fegan in Challis bonds posted. Bank opening planned by Roosevelt era firms at Thunder Mountain. various residents travel, attend concerts, and pursue mining projects and property leases.
Boise Basin Ellis, a prominent May rancher and early Boise Basin settler, died after being crushed by a wagon wheel when his team started to bolt. Reported by W J McDonald from May. Ellis reportedly aged about 40, survived by wife and several children, with his death casting gloom over the community. Also notes mining activity and local arrivals in Challis Idaho.
Public notice states warrants against Custer county will be paid with interest to date if presented within sixty days from the advertisement date. It specifies current expense fund, interest rate seven tenths of one percent from registry date to ten days after publication, issued by Alice Felkner, County Treasurer, Challis Idaho, October 20, 1908.
