DIED notices from Challis Idaho report John Thomas aged about 33, long time resident of Custer county, death likely from heavy work in Custer mill. He leaves a wife and child in Challis, funeral held with large turnout, community sympathy extended. Also deaths of Peter Malm at about 52, native of Sweden, and William Stone at about 48, with large processions and public mourning.

Czar of Russia dead and Challis voting mixup tallies

The item reports the death of the Czar, notes a Prohibition vote in Challis, and describes a slow, chaotic county election with 120 votes cast and 100 for all congressional nominees.
