Prisoner Burns Way Out Of Custer Jail

Kincaid, held in the Custer county jail for horse stealing, escaped by burning a hole through the door with a candle. Deputies chased but found the jail unsafe and poorly kept. The article notes Lemhi and Custer counties lack suitable courthouses and calls for a secure rock jail.

Embezzlement case bounds over to district court

J A Taylor hack driver was arrested at Mackay last week for embezzlement. Tried before Judge Kilgore, he was bound over to the district court with County Attorney Lamme prosecuting. Bernal, a Mexican, gave a 62 dollar check to Taylor to cash and cover a small bill, but Taylor allegedly spent all the money. Constable Egan delivered the prisoner to Sheriff Morrison, and Taylor is held in the county jail until the district court convenes.
