Bonanza Fire Ravages Eight Buildings in Idaho Town

A Tuesday May 11 blaze in Bonanza Idaho destroyed an eight building block along Main Street east side near the old B F P Rapp livery stable. Fire started from a defective flue in a residence owned by Martin and occupied by John Lamberdeni. Losses include stores, a livery stable, blacksmith shop and more. County Commissioner George McGowan suffered the greatest loss. No insurance reported.

Outlook to Custer Car Visits Highlight Mining Town

Travelers report good health on the route to Custer. Mr Treweek arrives as the old mill is gutted for new machinery and a West Fork saw mill begins cutting lumber. Mines at Lucky Boy and Black show promise, Clayton promises work and a running Burleigh drill on Redbird. Skyrack hopes for full revival as smelter starts. Bayhorse lacks data for life signals.

Mire Society Meeting set for June 1 1897 at church

The church arranging committee announces a Mire Meeting on Tuesday June 1 1897. Ice Cream by Mrs. Pierce Cakes by Mrs. Mason Lemonade by Mrs. Paul and Col J Sharp Fruit and Candy by Mrs. Cameron and Mrs. Waters A delightful program includes Music by Mr and Mrs Judge Bomar Dr J B Cutter Mesdames Pierce Dorgan and a chorus of little girls The nereey part led by Mrs Dodge Mesdames Waters Paul and Tewart Mrs Morrison will supervise the music for a promised treat.

Custer Mining Outlook and New Veins Near Salmon River

In 1897 mining in the Custer area faces high taxes and limited work as camps risk idle periods. The Yankee Fork district shows promise with the Binue Lead vein near 44 miles above Jordan Creek, claimed as 900 feet wide and bearing gold silver and lead. Prospects hinge on assays and sustained demand as Custer hopes for a revival.
