In Challis Idaho on May 3 1909 at six a m Hon Henry F Powell aged 79 years died after a long life as a miner and public servant He served on the Challis school board helped build the schoolhouse represented Custer county in Idaho 1900 and owned a mine on Garden creek He moved to Challis twenty years ago and ran the Burley ranch A funeral was held at the Odd Fellows hall and a minister paid tribute He was a neighbor generous pioneer with a long record of civic and community service He died peacefully at nearly four score years.
The Village of Challis Idaho trustees propose a local improvement district on Main Street from First to Seventh Street with grading and gravels. Estimated cost 3000 dollars and late May 1909 to May 1910 actions proceed with protest deadline May 15 1900.
