Big Carey Act project eyed for Round Valley irrigation
A group led by Lane Truitt and surveyor Hill plans to reclaim up to 20 000 acres along Salmon River under the Carey Act. East side canal to begin near Mock wheel with a 16 by 24 foot cross section, water priced at 25 per inch for a perpetual right. West side canal to cost 60 000, supplying 14 000 acres, with tunnels near the river and a new electric line to Salmon City contemplated. Project could attract 1500 to 2000 new residents and spur a railroad, boosting local agriculture and fruit growing.
