Challis Citizens Form Road Building Committee 1895
Citizens of Challis convened March 21 1895 to devise a wagon road from Jopsite to Fourth of July creek. A seven member committee was named to solicit subscriptions, later expanded to eleven, with several local leaders appointed to push bids and coordinate with county officials. A permanent three person committee was elected to manage road matters and pursue construction plans including possible routes to Morgan Creek summit.

Miners Urge Wagon Road to Yellow Jacket Camp
The Yellow Jacket mining community proposes a wagon road from Challis to the Yellow Jacket district to spur prosperity. Secretary M J Sanderson notes current employment at about 100 workers, 50 unemployed, with new arrivals daily, and urges funding or labor subscriptions.
