Tragic death near Challis points to suicide

The lifeless body of Jack Rose was found by Wm. Millick in a canyon near Warm Spring creek east of Challis on Sunday February 21. Coroner Duncan Cameron and a six man jury concluded death by own action, noting a discharged shotgun held to the forehead. Rose, about 34, resided in Custer county since 1886 and faced personal troubles including a horse sale dispute.
