Miner Killed at Loon Creek Cave-In

Martin Taliaferro shift boss at the Lost Packer mine in Loon Creek was trapped by rock and earth on Thursday morning the 18th. Rescued by fellow miners, he suffered three broken ribs and internal injuries and died about 6 p.m. He was described as an industrious young man.

Will Take Charge of Lost Packer Mine Near Mackay Idaho

Harry Charles, formerly connected with Mr. Heinze’s smelter operation in Butte and now of Salt Lake, claims he will soon assume charge of the Lost Packer mine near Ivers Idaho. The Lost Packer Mining Co owns nine claims 120 miles west of Mackay with a 100 ton smelter and tunnels reaching depths up to 2000 feet. The vein runs 2 to 7 feet wide and the ore carries gold silver and copper, with a well-developed road to Mackay and Salt Lake control of the property.
