George M. Smith, long operating in Custer County, reports a Lucky Strike placer group at Jugs Gulch head. Three tunnels reveal a ledge about twelve feet wide yielding around four dollars twenty cents in gold per ton, with gravel washes producing notable returns and enough ore to keep the stamp mill running.
