The Challis House is strictly a first class hotel with meals and accommodations that cannot be surpassed in the county.
A Mountain ram wandered from the hills and joined Wood Live Stock Company sheep near Spencer Idaho last December. Harry Dunn reports the ram stayed with ewes for weeks, produced fourteen lambs now two weeks old, and can jump a four foot fence. About fifty head initially arrived, all but fourteen perished. a twelve foot high corral may be needed to contain future stock.
July 5 race day features a half mile novelty with 70 dollar purse and prizes for first through third, a one mile trotting heat with 50 dollar purse, and a quarter mile dash for 50 dollars. Entries from Custer County and nearby valley, fees to J Spalding, rules by American Trotting Association.

Judge Lyttleton Price, owner in Valley Creek mine, arrived Sunday while Chas. Funkhouse unloaded twelve thousand pounds of vegetables at the mill. George M. Smith and A. H. Weeks work on owl timbers and lagging for drifting in Joe's Gulch. seven cents to the pan. Ed. Conrad unloaded a fine new steam hoist. installation to start immediately. W. E. Hanoa and others drive cattle to Winter range. about fifty men employed. Building of a one hundred sixty foot cyanide tank house delays stamps. The mill and grounds to be lighted by electricity. Matt Womacks took possession of the Stanley Dredge with Thos. J. Paul in charge. paid handsomely while it ran. Ground not rich enough to pay running expenses. seventy-five thousand purchase price cited.
