Challis Plans Fourth of July Celebration and Committees

Challis will celebrate the Fourth on Monday the Sth since the 4th falls on Sunday. A picnic and evening ball are likely. A citizens meeting at the Court House elected officers including President J. P. Spalding, Secretary M. M. Sweet, Treasurer Don Rowles, with a large arranging committee and subcommittees for tables grounds program artillery brass band and more led by T. J. Paul and others.

Duel in Clayton Leaves Two Wounded in Public Altercation

In Clayton Idaho two men, Mr Shott and Mr Willing, dueled after a dispute at the First Fenn restaurant run by MacLaurin and Ferguson. Both were wounded, inspiring verses that recount Shott shooting Willing and Willing’s shot passing through Shott.

Sealed bids sought for road maintenance in Custer Idaho districts

The Board of County Commissioners of Custer County Idaho invites sealed proposals for care and maintenance of roads in Road Districts 1 3 3 4 and 5. Bids run for two years from July 12 1997. Bayhorse Grade road bids urged by Guster County officials

Notice from the Board of County Commissioners of Guster Idaho invites sealed proposals for work on the Bayhorse Grade road above the present route. Specifications require an 11 foot solid width, slopes of 1 to 1, culverts and bridges to shed water.
