County Board Delays Taxes and Reorganizes Districts 1908

County records show delinquent taxes for 1907 canceled and a plan to subdivide county into Commissioner Districts. District 1 includes Pahsamaroi Sunol Challis and Bayhorse Precincts. District 2 covers Clayton Stanley Custer Sunbeam and Loon Creek Precincts. District 8 includes Battle Ground Mackay and Houston Precincts. Also lists numerous county expenditures on personnel, road work, supplies, and contracts totaling 3731.99 with a public works note for Parker Mountain road and bridge maintenance.

Railroad coming to the World with new route

The World reports the San Francisco Boise and Butte Railroad Co has reorganized and begun work. Men have cut ties in Bear Valley and laid tracks along the route. A 150 mile grading contract starts at Boise toward Salmon City and Butte, with sections near Payette River and Cape Horn to Sheep Mountain.

Mackay is crowded with Austrians said to lower wages and displace locals. Frank Grotewald reports lively activity in the upper Salmon river country. Assessment Notice from Challis Idaho Company Directors

In Challis Idaho a notice states that a meeting of the directors on the specified date levied a two milles per share assessment on capital stock payable to M. M. Sweet, Treasurer, by September. Any stock unpaid by September 12 will be patented for sale at public auction on October 10 to cover the assessment, advertising, and costs. Secretary Milton A. Notice announces payment of warrants against Custer County with interest from registry date, if presented within 60 days. Includes Current Expense Nos 21 to 47 and School District Nos 322 323 320 331 issued April 1908, interest 0.07 percent. Advertisement dated July 28 1905 or 1908 note unclear.
