Fatain Blimbing Race Attracts Notable Purses And Fast Times

A half mile street race from the lumber yard to Garden Creek drew heavy interest with $10 for first, $5 for second, and $300 for third. Willard Frost won, John Pushaw took second, and a fast field faded up the hill. Time 7:30. George Ellis ran a earlier 7 minutes in a similar course. A separate sea shots event offered $25, featuring eight men per side with Gayle and Campbell captains. Gayle’s team won in two heats, the first in 12 minutes and the second in 4 23.

July 5 Dance Ends With July 4 Hall Event

A forenoon program on July 5 featured a ring contest and filling contest with notable participants Harvey Calvin Jim Calvin and Chas Ernst. Events included a brown lavatory rock display, 10 minute time, and drill results with Joey Calvin achieving first in drilled 75-10 inches and Calvin second in drilled 64 inches.

Hot July Horse Races End Three Day Chal lis Celebration

The July Sth events featured hot 94 degree weather and multiple horse races owned by John and Lou Wells of Pabsamaroi with Corliss Murphey riding. Prizes included a saddle donated by Waters & Waters and a $60 baseball game between Vandervorts Scrubs and Challis Regulars ending three days of festivities with few fights or drunks.

Challis Village to Establish Local Improvement District No 2

The village of Challis Idaho proposes Local Improvement District Number Two for portions of Third Fourth Fifth and Seventh Streets between Main Pleasant Garden Creek and to place grading drainage and street work to proper grade. Sheriff Huntington will sell at public auction in Challis Idaho the Fort Pitt Mining and Milling Company mining claims in Valley Creek District to satisfy a judgment for 1009.40 dollars.
