Challis gossip notes report D B Drake buying E G Dodge property, Grace Anderson to teach at Soda Springs, Ballantine death in Bellevue, cold midwinter, Amos Leaton and Ruth Cameron wed in Challis, Maude Chivers ill, baby burial, Assessor-elect Ewing moves, new county officers take oath, Rehil brothers frozen near Arco, and various locals traveling and health updates. The Boise Statesman memo cites Ravenel Macbeth and Nathan H Clark as Custer county figures.
A dated January 1867 review notes residents visiting and returning to Bayhorse including Chas Baker Supt Hamilton and Jas Planner. It records births at Custer City and Beardsley Hot Springs, the death of Frankie Martin, and county board actions listing new officers and paid warrants, with weather recalling a mix of March and January warmth.
