Charliie Creek pupils held rhetorical exercises at the school house on the last day of the old year. Absentees were few. those present performed well. Two sermons by older students amused and impressed, one comic about Samp son and foxes, the other an ancient itinerant pulpit style. The event passed pleasantly and upheld the school’s good reputation.
The Odd Fellows hall in Challis is nearly finished with finishing touches. The 22 by 50 foot building will cost about $4,000 and will include an upstairs Lodge room with elegant papering and new carpet. The contractor’s work is praised as quality and a public benefit.
