A letter from Wm Peyton Mason president of the 8 F I M Ry Co asserts a railroad from Butte to Boise and then to San Francisco is to be started when weather permits. He cites capital availability and denies ties to the Merger Case, aiming to inform residents of the Salmon River district of plans and expected completion around 1909.

Butte Road Assured Railway Meets In New York City

On February 28 1905 in New York City the San Francisco Idaho and Montana Railway, recently incorporated, will hold a meeting to decide the construction start. Surveys are complete and some contracts let. The standard gauge line will run 925 miles from San Francisco to Butte through California Nevada Oregon Idaho and Montana with branches and extensive surveys in progress.
