E H McAuley city council member and railroad incorporator says Boise will become a major operation base for a new Boise-Butte line. The project, costing over 20 million, will leverage Pompey offices in Boise to finance and manage work, linking with Northern Pacific Great Northern Butte Anaconda lines and tapping Bitter Root valley timber and Montana mining districts. Buried in a Snowslide at Rough Gulch

Word reached here that Harry Friend is reportedly buried in a snowslide in Rough Gulch where he has been placer mining for years. Searching parties have failed to locate him since last Tuesday. Tracks reach to the slide edge and vanish. He was the only winter resident. Remains likely found after spring snowmelt. Rough Gulch lies between Yankee Fork mouth and Basin Creek, on Salmon River opposite the wagon road.
